Since his arrival to the UK, JAYSON NORRIS has successfully started his own label; released two albums; played some of London’s biggest festivals including Love Box, Secret Garden and Toast.
Jayson has a cult following in London and the UK with sell out gigs; featured on the Popworld compilation album along side Rogue Traders, Westlife and Lil Chris; Toured and supported Dave Dobbyn on his UK tour; supported kiwi artists such as Anika Moa, Breaks co-op, The Black Seeds, Hayley Westenra, Bruce Conlon (Eight), The Thin men, Nathan King (Zed), Jason Kerrison (Opshop), Blue King Brown and Pete Murray.
Jayson has also shared the stage with international acts such as Andrea Boccelli, where he sang backing vocals and played in front of other international stars some of which include Bjork, Paul McCartney and Will Young.
Jayson’s 2nd album “Freedom to Live” is due for release in June 2009. It was recorded in various studios in and around London and L.A and mixed at York Street, New Zealand by engineer and producer Steve Roberts. It was mastered in Sphere Studios London with additional works at Abbey Road, London
Guest musicians to feature on the album include New Zealander’s Paul Russell (Supergrove, Eight). Shelton Woolwright (Blindspott), Paul Matthews (Tadpole, Stylus), Steven Green, Carla Werner, Rietta Austin, Jerome Kavanagh, and Glenn Aitken with international musicians Ian Munro and Rikk Smith.
Combining his rich, earthy voice with a blend of soulful acoustic styles, Jayson offers laid back, funk-inflected Ben Harper, Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley inspired music. Jayson’s cultural and musical Maori heritage is subtly reflected with rootsy, South-Pacific sounds resonating throughout his songs.
